Finding Career Alignment Through Human Design

Work that fits your energy instead of fighting it. Career directions, work rhythms, and red flags for all five types, with real job examples.

Career advice often ignores that we're all designed differently. What works for a Generator won't work for a Projector. Here's how to find alignment.

By Type

Generators - Seek work that genuinely excites your sacral - Mastery comes through response and commitment - Career changes are valid if the energy has died - Look for roles with sustainable, engaging work

Manifesting Generators - Multi-career paths are natural for you - Efficiency and speed are your gifts - May have portfolio careers or side hustles - Need variety and the ability to pivot

Projectors - Not designed for 9-5 workforce energy - Thrive in advisory, management, and guidance roles - Wait for invitations to major positions - Build expertise that gets recognized

Manifestors - Need autonomy and freedom to initiate - May start businesses or movements - Don't thrive in micromanaged environments - Inform rather than ask permission

Reflectors - Environment is everything—find the right place - May thrive in evaluating or reflecting roles - Need flexibility and variety - Community health indicators

Beyond Type

The Deconditioning Journey

Most career dissatisfaction comes from conditioning. It takes time to unlearn what you "should" do and discover what's correct for you. ## Career Is an Energy Question First

Most career advice starts with skills and interests. Human Design starts with energy mechanics: how much output you can sustain, how work should reach you, and what makes a role correct rather than impressive. Get that wrong and the best job on paper will exhaust you within two years.

What Correct Work Looks Like by Type

The Authority Test for a Job Offer

1. Do not accept in the meeting, whatever your authority. 2. Emotional: take it through a full wave before answering. 3. Sacral: have someone ask you "do you want this job?" and listen to the sound. 4. Splenic: notice your first quiet response when the offer arrived. 5. Self-projected: talk about the offer out loud and listen to what your own voice says. 6. Lunar: take the month, and speak to several different people.

Money and the Open Heart

An open or undefined Heart center makes people prove their worth — overworking, undercharging, and accepting terms to demonstrate value. Roughly two thirds of people have this openness. Recognising it is often worth more financially than any negotiation tactic.

Changing Careers Without Blowing It Up

You do not have to quit. Run the experiment inside your current job first: respond rather than volunteer, inform rather than ask, take the wave before answering. Many people find the role becomes correct once the way they engage with it changes. If it does not, you will know within a lunar cycle or two — and you will know it in the body, not in a spreadsheet.
