Learn about Single, Split, Triple-Split, and Quadruple-Split definition in Human Design and how they shape consistency and conditioning.
Definition describes how the defined centers in your bodygraph connect to each other. If every defined center is joined into one unbroken circuit you have Single Definition. If your defined centers form two separate groups you have Split Definition, and so on through Triple Split and Quadruple Split. Definition is the least discussed and most practically useful part of a chart, because it explains how quickly you process, how self-contained you are, and which people bridge the gaps in your energy.
Single Definition people process internally and quickly. Split, Triple Split, and Quadruple Split people rely, to different degrees, on other people or on transits to connect their separate circuits — which is why the company you keep changes how integrated you feel.
Split definitions unconsciously seek people who carry the gates that bridge their split. That attraction is mechanical, not romantic, and it is worth knowing about: it explains why you may feel whole around one person and scattered without them. Awareness turns a dependency into a preference. Instead of clinging to whoever bridges you, you can meet the bridging need through varied company, environment, and time.
Single Definition tends to know quickly and can be impatient with people who need to talk it out. Splits often need to speak the decision aloud to someone else before it becomes clear. Neither is better. Knowing your definition prevents you from copying a decision-making style that was never designed for your wiring.
