Composite charts, electromagnetics, compromise, and dominance explained in plain language, plus what real compatibility looks like between each pair of Types.
A compatibility chart, properly called a composite or connection chart, overlays two people's bodygraphs. It does not score your relationship out of ten. It shows you the mechanics of what happens when your two energy fields meet: what gets switched on, what gets amplified, and where you will predictably rub against each other.
That is more useful than a compatibility score, because most relationship friction is mechanical rather than moral. Nobody is doing anything wrong. Two designs are simply doing what they are built to do.
When you put two charts together, every channel between you falls into one of four categories.
1. Electromagnetic connection. One person has one half of a channel, the other has the other half. Together you complete something neither has alone. This is the classic chemistry, the magnetic pull, the "we make something together" feeling. It is also where the most attachment forms — and where it hurts most to separate, because you lose access to that completion.
2. Compromise connection. One person has the whole channel defined, the other has neither gate. The undefined person consistently takes on and amplifies the defined person's energy in that area. It is not bad, but it is asymmetric: one of you is always the source. Awareness prevents resentment.
3. Dominance connection. Both people have the same channel fully defined. You are the same here. It feels like agreement and effortless understanding, and it can also feel like nothing new happens in that area. Two people with the same blind spot never notice the blind spot.
4. Companionship connection. Both of you have the identical gate activated but no completion. Comfortable, familiar, low-friction sameness.
A chart with lots of electromagnetics can still be a hard relationship, and a chart with few can be a peaceful one. What determines quality is whether both people are living their own Strategy and Authority. Two aligned people with an awkward composite usually do better than two conditioned people with a dazzling one.
Generator + Generator. Two engines. Easy sustained life-building energy, plenty of satisfaction, but the risk is that neither of you initiates, so you drift. Fix: give each other things to respond to.
Generator + Projector. One of the strongest working pairs. The Generator supplies energy, the Projector sees how to aim it. The Projector must be genuinely invited to guide, and the Generator must not treat the Projector as an equal-energy partner in stamina.
Generator + Manifestor. The Manifestor initiates, the Generator responds. It works well when the Manifestor informs. When they do not, the Generator feels blindsided and the Manifestor feels controlled.
Generator + Reflector. The Reflector will amplify and reflect the Generator's energy back. Beautiful mirror, but the Reflector needs alone time to discharge or they lose track of who they are.
Projector + Projector. Deep mutual seeing, wonderful conversation, and a shared shortage of Sacral fuel. Practical life logistics need deliberate structure, and both of you need permission to rest without guilt.
Projector + Manifestor. The Manifestor initiates, the Projector guides. Excellent if the Manifestor informs and the Projector waits to be invited rather than offering unsolicited advice, which a Manifestor experiences as control.
Manifestor + Manifestor. Two initiators. Fast, powerful, and prone to collision. Informing is not optional here, it is the entire relationship contract.
Manifestor + Reflector. The Reflector needs the Manifestor's news in advance and needs the Manifestor to slow down for lunar timing on big shared decisions.
Reflector + anyone. The Reflector samples the health of the relationship over a 28-day cycle. Give them time, space, and honest reporting rather than pressure to decide now.
The most useful thing you can know about a partner is their Authority, because it tells you how to make decisions together.
If one of you is emotional and the other is splenic, you will constantly experience one person being slow and the other being sudden. Name it once and it stops being a fight.
Wherever you are open, you take in and amplify your partner's energy. An open Solar Plexus person living with an emotionally defined partner will feel that partner's wave as though it were their own mood. An open Sacral partner will feel driven and overworked around a Generator. An open Root partner feels the pressure of a defined-Root partner as urgency.
The practice is simple: ask "is this mine?" If the feeling disappears when you spend an evening alone, it was theirs.
1. Pull both charts and note both Types, Strategies, and Authorities. 2. Agree on decision rules based on the slower Authority. 3. List your electromagnetic channels — that is your shared strength, use it deliberately. 4. List your compromise channels — that is where one person needs to consciously give the other room. 5. Give each other permission to be alone. Openness needs discharge time.
